Khai Waan was born on September 25 2012, it was deeply sad that her mother died after giving birth of her third baby. So the mahout tried to look after this baby elephant by giving baby formula and found Khai Waan had diarrhea so he had to consult the vet of Department of National Parks (DNP) and Khai Waan was moved to the Elephant Hospital, Thai Elephant Conservation Center in Lampang Province for further help..
On September 27 2012, Khai Waan just arrived at the Elephant Hospital and the vets decided and assigned Best mother Pang Pumpuang to look after this elephant and stay in the same stable on naughty and jealous baby elephant ” Boon Long ” So now there are two orphaned baby elephants to be nursed by Pumpaung and it seems she is very happy to be adopted mother of two elephant as Pumpuang just lost her second baby by giving still birth in August.. and Khai Waan is very lucky elephant as Pumpaung still have the milk so Khai Waan can have it as the new born baby elephant have to drink natural milk from the mother and also she can drink milk from baby formula given by Tawon the mahout of Pumpuang..
It’s very funny as Boon Long get very jealous of Khai Waan as sometimes he tried to kick and push so the mahout has to stop him by using the whip to let him know that this is his younger sister who had to share milk from Pumpaung and seem Khai Waan loved to be with Boon Long as she tried to follow Boon Long and stayed close to her brother..

now i understand. They are very lucky babies to have such a great and wonderful mother. She is so patient with them and I think the babies know they have a loving mom too. Now the little boy has to share his mom and that is not easy for him to do. But they will learn.
